Have you been waking up with headaches and finding yourself distracted all day? You might have sleep apnoea. This is a condition that affects approximately five percent of adults, where the airway to your throat that leads from the nose and mouth to your lungs collapses when you are asleep causing constrictions in breathing. This doesn’t just cause snoring but results in a lack of oxygen being sent to the body’s vital organs and disrupted sleep. Sleep apnoea can result in long term consequences such as high blood pressure, diabetes and an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

Mandibular Repositioning Device
This consists of a ‘mouth guard’ fitted to both the top and bottom teeth and then joined together in a way that forces the bottom teeth to stand in front of the top teeth. This pushing forward of the bottom jaw opens up the airway and supports it so that it is less likely to collapse, thereby reducing the severity of sleep apnoea.
