Our Oral Surgery Services

Porcelain and composite are the most popular types of veneer. Both offer effective results that enhance smile aesthetics, with the key differences being their procedure, cost and durability.

Dental Implants

Dental implants provide a long lasting, natural looking solution for missing teeth. Missing teeth can affect your bite, confidence, and oral health. At our clinics, every implant journey begins with a thorough assessment and digital planning.

You’ll be talked through what to expect at every stage, from your personalised treatment plan to surgery and full aftercare. Implants are carefully placed using up to date techniques in a comfortable environment, with close guidance throughout healing and follow up.

Tooth Extraction and Impacted Tooth Removal

Sometimes, a tooth cannot be saved, or wisdom teeth are causing pain or becoming problematic as they erupt. Our dentists offer both simple and complex extractions depending on your needs in a calm and reassuring setting. Patients receive a clear explanation before, during and after the procedure, so there are no surprises. If you requirewisdom tooth removal, gentle sedation options are available.

Your Oral Surgery Process

At Gentle Dental Care, your comfort and confidence are central to the process.

Step 1

Personal Consultation

Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation. The dentist will listen to your history, discuss symptoms, and use digital scans or X-rays to fully assess the issue. You’ll receive an honest outline of your choices, with clear answers to your questions.

Step 2

Treatment Planning

Every case is unique. Your dentist explains the best approach for your health, taking into account your preferences and lifestyle. Sedation or anesthesia options are presented if your procedure would be more comfortable with them.

Step 3

On the Day of Surgery

Treatment usually takes place in the familiar setting of your local clinic. Anaesthetic or sedation is provided if needed. The team will guide you through every step, from check-in through the procedure to immediate aftercare.

Step 4

Aftercare and Follow-up

Post-surgery, you’ll be given practical recovery tips and a contact to call should you need any help. Stitches, swelling, and discomfort are almost always mild and short-lived, and you’re welcome to reach out at any stage with questions.

Oral Surgery Aftercare Guide

Looking after yourself at home makes a difference to your healing:

Group 850

Discomfort and Swelling

Mild pain or facial swelling can be managed with prescribed pain relief and a cold pack to the cheek in the first twenty-four hours. This is normal and usually fades quickly.

Group 849

Oral Hygiene

Keep your mouth clean, but avoid brushing the surgery area as it may be hard in the first few days. Start gentle warm saltwater rinses after twenty-four hours to help prevent infection.

Group 848

What to Eat (and Avoid)

For the first day or two, eat soft, cool foods such as yoghurt, pasta, or scrambled eggs. Avoid hot drinks, crunchy snacks, spicy foods, and hard items until your dentist says it’s fine. Don’t use a straw or smoke for the first seventy-two hours.

Group 847

When to Contact the Clinic

Call the clinic if you notice ongoing bleeding, increasing pain, signs of infection, or anything that feels unusual. Our team is ready to help with advice and reassurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you still have questions, feel free to call one of our 7 clinics and speak to one of our team members.

What is oral and maxillofacial surgery?

It covers treatments for missing or impacted teeth, bone and jaw issues, and many soft tissue conditions in the mouth and face.

What are the risks?

All surgery has some risks, such as infection, swelling, or mild discomfort. Your dentist discusses this at your appointment and answers any questions so you can feel confident in your care.

Is the treatment painful?

Pain is managed with anaesthetics and, if needed, sedation. Most patients report only mild short-term discomfort.

How do I prepare for the procedure?

Follow any fasting instructions; bring details of your medications and let your dentist know if your health changes before the appointment.

How long does recovery take?

Most people recover in a few days, with swelling and tenderness resolving within a week.

Can I use my health fund?

Many oral surgery services are claimable on private health insurance. Ask us for support with item numbers and rebates.

Are there clinics near my home?

Gentle Dental Care has seven locations across Sydney, making it convenient for most families to find a local clinic.

What support is available after surgery?

Our team remains available for advice or urgent appointments should any concerns arise while you recover.
