Oral Surgery Aftercare Guide
Looking after yourself at home makes a difference to your healing:
Discomfort and Swelling
Mild pain or facial swelling can be managed with prescribed pain relief and a cold pack to the cheek in the first twenty-four hours. This is normal and usually fades quickly.
Oral Hygiene
Keep your mouth clean, but avoid brushing the surgery area as it may be hard in the first few days. Start gentle warm saltwater rinses after twenty-four hours to help prevent infection.
What to Eat (and Avoid)
For the first day or two, eat soft, cool foods such as yoghurt, pasta, or scrambled eggs. Avoid hot drinks, crunchy snacks, spicy foods, and hard items until your dentist says it’s fine. Don’t use a straw or smoke for the first seventy-two hours.
When to Contact the Clinic
Call the clinic if you notice ongoing bleeding, increasing pain, signs of infection, or anything that feels unusual. Our team is ready to help with advice and reassurance.
